Writer's Guidelines

Check out this guidelines document the Writer’s Guild of Great Britain put out about narrative designers/writers in the games industry. It’s an interesting read on what they feel the role of the writer is, how a writer interacts with the game, and the different ways a writer can be employed by a developer.
Pay special attention to the Role of the Games Writer section. They really champion the idea of the writer being involved early and often. While I tend to agree - I also have a problem with establishing guidelines to any creative process. Structure is the enemy of creativity, in my own personal experiences. But then again - people need to be paid for what they do and that requires rules.
